Woosh Bang Pow
An energy-pass circle game with three moves: Woosh sends energy sideways, Bang bounces it back, and Pow fires it across to anyone. Fast, noisy and great for waking a group up.
About
Woosh Bang Pow is a classic improv warm-up that trains quick decision-making, sustained attention and group rhythm. Each move requires both a clear physical gesture and a committed vocal choice. As the game speeds up, the margin for error shrinks and the energy in the room rises accordingly.
How to Play
- 1
Woosh: sweep both arms in the direction of the next player, passing energy around the circle. That player may Woosh it onward.
- 2
Bang: clasp hands into a finger-gun pointed at the incoming Woosh. Energy bounces straight back the way it came. Bang can only stop a Woosh.
- 3
Pow: point with both hands at any player across the circle. Energy jumps directly to them and continues from there.
- 4
Anyone who hesitates, uses the wrong move or loses track of the direction of energy is out or does a brief forfeit.
- 5
Keep increasing pace. The game should feel genuinely fast by the third or fourth minute.
Variations
- -Add 'Bounce': palm downward toward the floor - energy bounces up to a random player chosen by the group. Advanced groups can handle all four moves simultaneously.
