Kitty Wants a Corner
One player in the centre tries to steal a corner while others silently negotiate to swap. A game of misdirection, timing and spatial awareness.
About
Kitty Wants a Corner is a light physical game that trains spatial awareness, silent communication and the ability to act under the pressure of being watched. Players must signal intent, read signals and commit to movement simultaneously - while Kitty exploits any hesitation.
How to Play
- 1
Mark four corners of the playing space. Four players stand in the corners; one player (Kitty) stands in the centre.
- 2
Kitty approaches any corner player and says 'Kitty wants a corner!' That player can only respond 'Ask my neighbour.'
- 3
While Kitty is occupied, any two corner players can silently agree to swap by making eye contact and nodding.
- 4
When two players leave their corners to swap, Kitty tries to steal one of the vacated corners.
- 5
The player left without a corner becomes the new Kitty.
Variations
- -With larger groups, add multiple Kitties. With chairs in a classroom setting, players swap seats instead of corners.
