Hitchhiker
Three players sit in an imaginary car. A hitchhiker enters with a strong character trait and everyone in the car adopts it. When a new hitchhiker arrives, everyone must switch to the new character completely.
About
Hitchhiker is a character exercise wrapped in a short-form game. The hitchhiker's character must be strong enough to infect everyone in the car immediately. When a new hitchhiker replaces the old one, the entire car shifts personality - which means players must hold multiple character layers in memory and drop them on command.
How to Play
- 1
Set up four chairs as a car: one driver's seat and three passenger seats. Three players take the car.
- 2
A hitchhiker enters from the audience side with a strong, clear character (an emotion, an obsession, a physical state).
- 3
The driver pulls over. As soon as the hitchhiker gets in, every person in the car immediately adopts that character completely.
- 4
After a short scene, the driver calls 'Next stop!' The hitchhiker gets out - but everyone in the car keeps the character.
- 5
A new hitchhiker enters with a completely different character. Everyone immediately drops the old character and adopts the new one.
Variations
- -Uber: add a running 'passenger rating' gimmick. Multiple passengers: two hitchhikers with conflicting characters arrive at the same time.
